GR8 Tool Hire named Hire Company of the Year (Under £10m Turnover) at Hire Awards of Excellence

The team at an independent equipment and tool hire company which has its headquarters in Bishop’s Stortford are celebrating landing a prestigious accolade.

GR8 Tool Hire was named Hire Company of the Year (Under £10m Turnover) at the Hire Awards of Excellence in April.

The prize recognises the firm’s outstanding commitment to offering top branded products - big and small - at competitive prices to both trade and DIY customers, backed up with excellent customer service.

GR8 Tool Hire has also always been keen to give something back to the community and, to that end, has raised in excess of £30,000 for local good causes.

Operations director Nick Rollit-Mason Evans hailed GR8 Tool Hire’s loyal customer base and everyone who has passed on recommendations following the award win, as well as the hard-working team who go above and beyond to provide an excellent customer experience.

The company has grown steadily over the last 12 years since being founded in 2013, to include buying out Ridgeons Tool Hire in 2017. The move led GR8 Tool Hire to expand and it now has branches in Saffron Walden and Cambridge alongside its flagship Stortford depot on the Birchanger Industrial Estate in Stansted Road.

The team has also grown from an original staff of three and is now made up of 36 knowledgeable members of staff across all departments, from the workshop floor to customer service.

One of them, Ben Southgate, almost made it an awards double for the company at last month’s awards bash in London as he was short-listed in the Workshop Manager of the Year category. He missed out on the prize, but it was a huge achievement for the 27-year-old.

GR8 Tool Hire, which is a member of the Hire Association of Europe, now has more than 200 items of plant to hire out to customers, whether they be trade customers, firms working on large-scale commercial projects or people looking to do work at home.

Tools and equipment are delivered to customers and collected in the firm’s distinctive green branded vehicles, with demonstrations being given on delivery if it is an item you have not used before.
