Employee of Cornelius Group in Bishop's Stortford running the London Marathon for Sparkle Malawi

An employee of a Bishop's Stortford science business is hoping to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children in Africa by running this year's London Marathon.

Danielle O'Connor is a regulatory affairs officer at Woodside-based Cornelius Group, an independent manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals, raw materials and ingredients for the life sciences and performance chemicals market sectors.

She will be taking on the 26.2-mile challenge in the capital on April 26 and is aiming to raise £5,000 for the company's charity partner Sparkle Malawi.

The organisation provides communities with nutrition, healthcare and initiatives that seek to bring about sustainable long-term change in the region.

"Supporting our charity partner and 'doing good' is so central to who we are as a business, but also on a personal level I'm extremely proud to be fundraising for The Sparkle Foundation," said Danielle.

"Their work in Malawi is such an important cause and we're all pleased to do what we can to support it.

"The London Marathon is going to be a challenge, but I'm motivated knowing that each pound we raise goes to the people that need it the most."
