Three Bishop's Stortford businesses are among those backing a 50-mile fundraising walk for a disability charity.

Rayden Solicitors, Genmar IT and estate agent Mullucks are all sponsoring the Accuro 50, which is organised by Start Hill-based Accuro (Care Services).

They, along with fellow sponsors DRB Compliance, attended a launch event hosted by Harlow's Redchurch Brewery. The challenge walk largely follows established long-distance routes the Forest Way, the Flitch Way, Harcamlow Way and the Saffron Trail.

The route can be walked in either direction, broken down into smaller sections, completed over multiple days, as an ultra-challenge in one day or even as a relay.

"The idea of the Accuro 50 is to raise the profile of the charity and encourage support through challenge sponsorship," said fundraising manager Sue Fishpool. "We hope the route inspires people to enjoy the beautiful countryside in our region."

The launch event also featured talks by route guide creator Peter Aylmer and Accuro 50 challenger Simon Dewhurst, who was the first to take on the route in October as part of the planning process.

Daniel Galati, managing director at Mullucks, whose Stortford office is in Water Lane, said: "As supporters of Accuro, there was never any question we'd be involved in Accuro 50.

"It covers our patch so we will be putting in a team to either walk it in relay or some of our braver colleagues will be taking on the whole walk.

"A great challenge that will raise awareness of the services Accuro offers and raise all-important funds."

Accuro supports children, young people and adults with disabilities in West Essex by providing services that are fun, safe and inclusive. These services reduce social isolation and empower members by providing accessible social and leisure opportunities that allow them to develop life skills, gain confidence and self-esteem and make friends.
