Bishop's Stortford businessmen Daniel Chapman and Ben Pratt have big plans for employee fitness and wellbeing provider Studio Space

The co-founders of a new Bishop's Stortford business are aiming to be the No 1 employee fitness and wellbeing provider in the south east within five years.

Daniel Chapman and Ben Pratt, both 32, launched Studio Space in June and have invested £20,000 in the project.

Chapman was keen to start his own business having worked in the fitness industry for more than a decade, so the friends and Stortford residents set about offering pop-up spin classes to fit around people's busy lives.

"Studio Space is a mobile fitness and wellness provider initially focusing on community centres and also businesses in the south east," said Chapman, who has worked as a personal trainer at LA Fitness, been a sales manager at Nuffield Health Bishop's Stortford and also worked for the likes of Snap Fitness, Bannatyne Fitness and the Manor of Groves.

"After working in the industry for over 10 years I wanted to start my own spin and fitness studio, but there were not any suitable premises available in the local area.

"I had the idea to create a mobile spin studio that could service corporate clients in the daytime and local community centres and other locations in the evening.

"Our pop-up spin class for 10 riders is the first of its type in the UK. We use the latest spin bikes and noise-cancelling headphones to give riders the most fun whilst also getting the best workout possible."

Chapman, who has played for Bishop's Stortford Hockey Club for over seven years, and fellow co-founder Pratt both went to Felsted School. Pratt also runs Clearstone Energy, a London-based firm he started three years ago that develops clean energy projects, such as solar and flexible gas power stations, across the UK.

Studio Space provides multiple classes in and around Stortford including at Rhodes Arts Complex and St Michael's Mead.

"Our five-year goal is to be the No 1 employee fitness and wellbeing provider in the south east," said Chapman.
