ITVET staff give up their Saturday morning to pick up litter from the streets of Stortford
Staff at Bishop’s Stortford tech firm ITVET gave up their Saturday mornings to tidy up the town.
Starting from their head office at the old Tanners Arms pub in London Road, a team targeted the railway station, bus interchange, main high street and Sworder's Field.
By the time they finished they had filled 12 rubbish sacks.
The event on Saturday (September 4) was part of the firm's commitment to the environment and corporate social responsibility to the community.
Managing director Richard Fountain said: “It was so pleasing that our employees gave up their Saturday morning to pick litter in our town. Although it was quite low in litter, we still managed to collect many full bags.
"One of the most pleasing aspects was the number of local people who not only thanked us but said they would get involved next time we hold one."
As well as the litter pick, ITVET supports local charities, provides the town's free public Wi-Fi and is organising Stortford Heroes – Party in the Park in Sworder’s Field on July 22 next year.
