Lloyds Pharmacy is to shut its shop and dispensary in Bishop's Stortford town centre.

Announcement of the bad news for staff and customers of the South Street business follows the closure last Friday (Nov 24) of the nearby Martin’s newsagent.

A spokesman for Lloyds said: “This is an ongoing process, therefore it’s too early to give any further details. What we can say is that the employees of the stores and the local communities are cared for as a priority.

“We will look to redeploy colleagues wherever and whenever possible in line with opportunities that exist and their wishes.

“We do have alternative Lloyds Pharmacy stores in the area. We are committed to providing the same levels of service to our customers and patients in the community.”

The company has a branch at the Thorley Neighbourhood Centre off Villiers-sur-Marne Avenue, Thorley Park.

Martin’s shut after owner McColls declined to renew the lease on its South Street shop.
