Ibis Budget hotel opens for Stansted Airport passengers
An Ibis Budget hotel has opened in Birchanger Lane to cater for passengers at Stansted Airport.
AGO Hotels, which operates the chain and is part of the Accor group, has taken a 25-year lease on the former Travelodge site, which is less than three miles from the airport.
Travelodge Owners Action Group teamed up with Accor to launch AGO Hotels in July 2020. It has over 600 hotels in more than 20 countries.
Lionel Benjamin, co-founder of AGO Hotels, said: "We are so pleased to have opened the doors to this new Ibis Budget hotel to provide a convenient and comfortable base for travellers in and out of Stansted, as well as guests staying in the area for business and leisure.
"The team are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to the new hotel, which offers a comfortable and affordable setting. The hotel also offers lots of on-site parking within five minutes' drive of the main airport terminus."
The hotel will open with stringent health, safety and wellbeing guidance from the Accor group, which also operates the Novotel at the airport.
AGO Hotels believes its distinctive business model will help ensure long-term success.
Co-founder Viv Watts said: "Despite launching AGO in the height of the pandemic, our distinctive hybrid lease model has shown its resilience in tough market conditions and we have continued to grow rapidly.
"Now we're looking forward to welcoming guests into our existing hotels as well as continuing to look for new locations across the UK where we can drive returns for landlords through our profit-sharing lease model.
"Our business model will guarantee rent and include owners in the hotel's profits as the market returns to normalcy."
