LEARN MOREA business that began in a double garage and has grown to become the UK's largest manufacturer-approved repair facility has unveiled its new state-of-the-art headquarters.
Hilton Coachworks – part of the Hilton Group – held a launch party on Thursday March 31 to show off the stunning 75,000 sq ft three-storey building at its site in Raynham Road, Bishop's Stortford, following a £7-8 million investment.
The new premises is on land owned by managing director Peter Hilton that was formerly occupied by an engineering company. It is situated between its existing premises – which opened in 2000 and itself covers 30,000 square feet – and the premises housing the group's Hilton & Moss business, which specialises in restoring, servicing, selling and storing luxury vehicles for clients around the world.
Hilton Car Storage resides on the top floor of the new building, where a climate-controlled and secure location is available for owners to store and protect the condition of their pride and joy.
Hilton Coachworks was founded by Hilton in the garage at his parents' home in Ugley Green in 1984. The driving force behind the business has always been to provide a service that is second to none, and its passion for quality and excellence has seen it become the approved repairer for more than 20 of the most prestigious automotive brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Bentley, Audi and Land Rover.
It has already carried out more than 10,000 repairs each year and is expecting this to increase significantly with increased capacity.
Construction of the new premises began in spring 2020 and the company is keen to fill a number of vacancies – from customer service, admin and sales to body shop roles – with local people who love cars, no matter what their skill set.
Hilton's philosophy has always been to get good people into the business, believing their attitude and passion for cars is what drives the business forward.
The company already plays a big role in the community by employing around 80 staff at its Stortford HQ as well as within dealer groups in surrounding counties, and having been a Bishop's Stortford RFC sponsor for around a quarter of a century.
And it has future plans to hold open days for the public at weekends to show off what it does and to make more people aware of the services it provides.
