Julie Marson has welcomed a report showing almost 14,000 jobs in her Hertford and Stortford constituency are supported by exports.

The Conservative MP believes the research, commissioned by the Department for International Trade, shows a clear rationale for pursuing an exports-led recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data shows 13,815 jobs in Hertford and Stortford are in industries that were export intensive at a national level in 2019 – 21.9% of the total. These include security and investigation, legal and accounting services and financial services.

"Hertford and Stortford is at the forefront of 'Global Britain'. Our export-led economy means that workers in these sectors benefit from higher wages, showing how our community's contribution to the world benefits them and their families," said Mrs Marson.

"I am very pleased to see this data and will continue to do all I can to bring greater opportunity to our area, boosting wages and life chances."

The Office for National Statistics recently released figures showing a 41% decline in UK exports to the EU in January.
