Hertfordshire’s 11 councils have agreed a draft joint submission to the Government that proposes replacing them with one of three options.
Formal approach made seeking establishment of mayoral strategic authority alongside new unitary authorities, with mayoral election in May 2028.
“It is vital that such a fundamental matter is discussed and determined… where all district councillors are able to contribute and vote.”
East Herts Council wants to introduce electoral wards in both towns when, currently, residents can vote for any candidate.
