EDEN is proud to exclusively use top hair care brand Aveda, which is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, at its destination salon tucked away in Water Lane.
The team of eight stylists are passionate about what they do and are focused on providing the brilliant customer service which has earned them a five-star rating in the Good Salon Guide.
The business, owned by Jeanette Burrows, has also developed its own makeup brand, English Mineral Makeup, which has won multiple industry awards.
And with Environ facialist Elizabeth (on Saturdays), Dr Nim Aesthetics and Saima's Threading Bar bringing their beauty expertise – the latter uses Kalentin vegan tints – the talented EDEN team create amazing hair and get effective results on your skin too.
"We believe, in the name of cosmetics, animals should never be tested on, so it was important for us to find a brand that worked for us," said Jeanette, who opened EDEN in 2008 in premises which date back to the 15th century.
"Everything Aveda do is fully cruelty-free and now 100% vegan. We try really hard to make sure everything we do is cruelty-free and has no animal derivatives in it at all as that's really important to all of us.
"We have very high standards and we've been here a long while – I think we're Bishop's Stortford's best-kept secret.
"We're a destination salon, out of the way, and people find us because they know we're passionate about what we do and we're highly skilled.
"We have incredibly skilled colourists and we get recommended by other salons for correction work for colour."
After securing the premises 15 years ago, the building, which was once part of a mill, underwent a full renovation. Only the downstairs was used initially but now the upstairs is used too, with clients enjoying their hair and skin treatments with modern facilities complementing the building's character features.
"We're very friendly, very relaxed, very normal and very lovely," said Jeanette. "We are very customer focused."
