Tony Allcock: Retired computer scientist’s art has adorned book covers, sci-fi comic 2000AD and Paris International Contemporary Art Fair
Tony Allcock, originally from Nottingham, has lived in Bishop’s Stortford for the last 25 years.
Though primarily working as a computer scientist, he has painted and illustrated throughout his life and even more so since retiring.
Currently working mainly in watercolour, he paints landscapes, animals and people in a loose, energetic style.
He has also illustrated several science fiction and fantasy book covers, and produced art for 2000AD, the weekly sci fi-oriented comic magazine.
His work has been displayed in numerous galleries and exhibitions, including the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain (Paris International Contemporary Art Fair).
Bishop’s Stortford Art Society meets at Thorn Grove Primary School two Thursday evenings a month during term time. Membership is £20 for a year (£35 for couples). You just have to be 18 or over – all abilities are welcome. Email stortfordartsociety@outlook.com for details.
