£10,000 St Clare Hospice Lottery win for Stansted resident Brenda Veal
A Stansted woman has won £10,000 in the St Clare Hospice lottery rollover.
Brenda Veal won the maximum prize on July 3 after it accumulated over more than 50 weeks. The last rollover jackpot the St Clare lottery awarded was £10,000 in June 2019.
The draw has been running for more than 20 years and has more than 15,500 weekly entries. Last year it generated more than £450,000 in profit for the hospice at Hastingwood, near Harlow.
Brenda said: "I was nicely surprised to receive the phone call saying I'd won... I never expected to win! It came at such a good time as it's been a really difficult year for me and this lifted my spirits. I would encourage others to join the St Clare Hospice lottery to support the fantastic work that St Clare does."
Lottery manager Paula Fogg said: "We're delighted the rollover has been won after more than 50 weeks of waiting. It had reached a nail-biting stage in St Clare Hospice Lottery HQ as we waited to see whose lucky number would be drawn, so it's great to have finally found a winner.
"The rollover will now begin accumulating again, but players always have the chance to win a guaranteed prize of £1,000 every single week.
"You can play our lottery for as little as £4.34 per month and you'll be contributing to around £450,000 which we raise in profit for the hospice charity every year. It really is a win-win! Playing our lottery is a fun way to support your local hospice, and makes a real difference to the lives of people in your community."
