10-year-old boy seriously injured in collision with car in Bishop's Stortford

A 10-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a vehicle on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford.

The boy was riding a bike when the incident happened in Obrey Way, which links the Thorley Park estate with the A1184 St James Way bypass, shortly after 2.15pm on Sunday (March 22).

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire police said: "The cyclist, a boy aged 10, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

"The road remained closed for several hours while police investigations were carried out at the scene."

The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and the East Anglian Air Ambulance to the scene.

It said that the boy was taken by road ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.
