Indie strikes the right chord at Stort Valley Rotary's musical quiz




Stort Valley Rotary hit the high notes for charity, with a musical quiz which raised £2,850.

The event at the Charis Centre in Water Lane featured Just A Capella, a 20-strong choir who sang popular songs from the past.

Quizzers were challenged to answer questions about the tunes and as a result, Aspects, a charity formed to help with mental wellbeing in local schools, will benefit to the tune of £2,300 - £1,150 profit from event which was doubled by the club.

Additionally, £550 was raised by a raffle and donated to Herts Musical Memories which provides singing sessions in the town's Baptist Church each week to stimulate happy memories for dementia sufferers. The raffle prizes were generously donated by businesses in Stortford and Stansted.

Mayor Norma Symonds, who presented the prizes, said: "I couldn't answer many of the questions but really loved the singing."

The team led by Paul Winspear, editor of the Bishop's Stortford Independent, was very

much in tune on the evening and victorious after a tense tiebreaker.
