Cyclist from Takeley aged 33 dies at scene of collision with car on A414 at North Weald

A 33-year-old Takeley man died in a collision with a car on the A414 at North Weald.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and want to hear from the drivers of two cars that passed the scene in the immediate aftermath.

Officers were called to reports of a collision between a Vauxhall Zafira and the cyclist at the A414's junction with Vicarage Lane on Thursday 8 October at around 5.20am.

Paramedics and an air ambulance attended but the cyclist died at the scene. The car driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "The road was closed for a significant time while officers carried out an examination of the scene.

"Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from the drivers of two vehicles who were seen to travel through the scene of the crash immediately afterwards. Both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Harlow."

Anyone with information about the collision or the driver of either vehicle who passed through the scene is asked to contact officers at Essex Police’s serious collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident 152 of Thursday 8 October.
