The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity - which has a support centre in the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford - has been given a £50k boost by the Takeley Fundraising Group.

This group, launched in 1996 by original chairwoman Cathy Prior, began fundraising for the charity in 2003.

Recently, the group has run the kitchen gift stall and cake raffle at the Takeley Christmas Bazaar, organised a ‘Soup ‘n’ Pud’ fundraiser, and a Christmas Light Up event.

Anne Farr, chairwoman of the group since 2016, said: “The support we get from local residents and businesses in and around Takeley is magnificent. We are very lucky that local people ask when our next events are and all have their favourites that they like to come to.”

The Takeley Fundraising Group’s next event in aid of Helen Rollason Cancer Charity will be a 1918 themed country fair on Saturday, June 16, in the field behind the Silver Jubilee Hall in Takeley. There will be lots of traditional sideshows including smash the china, ball in a bucket, hook a duck and lucky dip.
