Seven-year-old Bishop's Stortford schoolgirl unveils her literary debut
A seven-year-old pupil at Manor Fields Primary School has released her first book.
Macie Rose Sanchez-Sims, who is in Year 2 at the Penningtons primary, has been writing short stories for the past year.
She also illustrates her work, which centres around mythical creatures, so her proud family opted to have her collection independently published in the form of a 66-page paperback titled Stories for Laughing Unicorns and Giggling Fairies, which is now available on Amazon for £6.25.
Mum Emily said: “All sales she’ll make she’s saving up. She wants to buy a Build a Bear.”
Macie is not the only writer in her family. Her grandfather, Mick Sims, has been penning stories with his friend Len Maynard since the 1970s.
Mick and Len, who write together as Maynard Sims, have produced ghost story collections, crime and thriller novels and supernatural stories.
Mick, Emily, grandmother Clare and father Fabio Sanchez are all delighted with Macie’s creativity, and the youngster has been encouraged by her teacher Miss Stott and head
Emily said: "She took some of her stories into school and her headteacher gave her a gold Headteacher's Award. She was so excited."
