New headteacher Malcolm White, who has taken over from Jon Locke, praised those students who pushed their own boundaries and achieved results that exceeded their targets.

“We have many students who have overcome their individual challenges and now have achieved grades that will open up fantastic opportunities,” he said.

“There are so many personal successes to celebrate which have been based on hard work by the students, but also excellent support from parents and the continuing efforts of our staff.

“It’s great to see so many students who have achieved grades to take them off to high-quality university courses or work-based training routes. We wish them all every success as they move on.”

* Secondary schools in Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth have agreed not to release comparative statistics because of GDPR and because each school has different sixth form entry criteria, making pure attainment headlines difficult to compare. Value Added scores are the only valid comparator and these are not published by the Department for Education until November.
