Abba tribute act helps raise 'money, money, money' for Grove Cottage
Grove Cottage supporters said 'thank you for the music' after one of the UK's top Abba tribute bands helped them raise an impressive £2,300 for the home of Bishop's Stortford's Mencap.
Around 130 people danced the night away at the charity function held at the Charis Centre in Water Lane earlier this month as ABBA Re-Bjorn put on a show to remember, recreating the iconic and much-loved songs of the legendary Swedish quartet.
"With their Swedish accents, tight harmonies, high-energy performance, replica costumes and audience participation aplenty they delivered a show stopping performance that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended," said a Grove Cottage spokesperson.
Guests were also treated to a delicious hot meal during the interlude, catered for by Bishop’s Stortford based catering company Coppice Catering and Grove Cottage said it was also grateful for the support of Sawbridgeworth based IT company, HardSoft Computers, for its invaluable sponsorship of the event.
Nicky Hastler, community fundraiser at Grove Cottage, said “ABBA Re-Bjorn put on a fantastic show and we were so pleased to see so many of our members and supporters enjoying themselves as they danced the night away to the classic tunes from this iconic group. We’re thrilled to have raised over £2,300 and these funds will be used to support the clubs and activities we provide to enrich the lives of those living with learning disabilities in the local area.”
Grove Cottage, based on London Road, provides social and educational activities for people of all ages with learning disability: to develop their potential, avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships and to provide respite for their families.
