Air Corsica announces fourth destination on Mediterranean island from Stansted
A new service between Stansted Airport and Corsica, the French island in the Mediterranean, has been announced.
The weekly flight to Calvi – the fourth destination on the island served by Air Corsica from Stansted – will be launched in May and opens up the north-western coast of the island.
In addition, the airline has extended its travel schedule to Corsica from the UK, with flights to Ajaccio, Bastia and Figari starting from April.
Travellers heading to Corsica now have a choice of four different airports to fly to over four different days.
Air Corsica will be operating four to ten flights a week, giving travellers the ability to arrive at one airport and leave from another, and the chance to discover the whole of the island.
Hervé Pierret, Air Corsica's managing director, said: “The new Calvi route is testament to the growing popularity of Corsica as a destination for the UK market. By starting the 2019 season earlier, we continue to strengthen our offer for travel to Corsica from the UK to keep up with demand from our customers.”
The ‘picture postcard’ town of Calvi is in the heart of the Balagne, a region largely undiscovered by the UK market. The dramatic landscape is characterised by hilltop villages, beaches and secluded coves backed by mountains that remain snow-capped until early summer.
