Stansted Airport extends deadline and makes applying easier for local residents’ discount scheme for Express Set Down
Stansted Airport chiefs have extended a deadline for people to re-register for a local residents’ “kiss and fly” discount scheme and created additional ways to access the application form.
Letters were sent to residents asking them to reapply for the Express Set Down discount scheme – which means residents living within five miles of the airport pay 50p for up to 10 minutes and those within 10 miles £1 – with a deadline of Friday October 18.
The only way for residents to register was by scanning a QR code which took them to a form to fill out.
Now new letters have been sent to those already registered for the scheme and the deadline extended to Thursday October 31.
The new letter also provides a link to the airport website and directly to the re-registration form. Applicants now have to provide registration numbers for a maximum of two vehicles.
The charge for the Express Set Down for those without a discount is £7 for up to 15 minutes, rising to £25 for longer than that period.
Stansted Airport was identified as having the highest “kiss and fly” charges in the UK, with Leeds Bradford the closest, costing £6.50 for a 10-minute drop-off.
