All Saints Primary gets one step closer to Addie’s stage
All Saints C of E Primary School has received a helping hand from Waitrose in its plans to honour the memory of former pupil Addie Brady.
Addie died on February 1 last year aged 16 after suffering an inoperable and aggressive brain tumour.
The teenager, who went on to attend Herts & Essex High School, loved the performing arts. She was a member of Phoenix Theatre School at Rhodes and studied drama for GCSE.
The Parsonage Lane primary decided to build an outdoor stage, which is expected to cost £1,500, to pay homage to Addie.
Waitrose adopted the appeal as one of its Community Matters green-token scheme causes. The Northgate End supermarket splits a £1,000 donation three ways each month, and shoppers voted to give the school £436.
Philip Asher, headteacher at All Saints, welcomed Addie’s mum Michelle and Waitrose community champion Tracy Whitfield to the school last Friday.
The parent-teacher association (PTA) is planning two fundraisers at the end of April to raise more money for Addie’s stage project.
