Applications open for share of £250,000 sports and leisure funding from Bishop’s Stortford Town Council

Applications are invited for a share of Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s latest sports and leisure fund.

Sports clubs and leisure groups can apply for a grant to fund capital projects. In all, £250,000 is up for grabs.

A town council spokesman said: “The award follows on from two previous major grant awards made by the town council in recent years.

“In December, the council agreed not to proceed with part-funding a sports complex to the north of the town, where a sum of £2.5m had been notionally ringfenced.

“At the same time, it recognised the importance and need for sports funding and made a commitment that it would seek ways of helping those organisations who were most in need of extra financial support. As such, the opening of a grants scheme was deemed to be the most practical way of realising this goal.”

Application forms and guidance notes are available on the town council’s website at https://www.bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk/council-services/major-grants-programme-spring-2024

Completed bids should be emailed to grant.applications@bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk by 9am on Tuesday April 2.

The full council will score the applications and make a decision on grants at a special meeting on Saturday May 11.
