A new discretionary grant fund is available from East Herts Council to help businesses affected by Covid-19 restrictions.

Cllr Geoffrey Williamson, the council's executive member for finance, said: "We're committed to supporting our business community to thrive, and putting them on the road to recovery from the pandemic is central to that commitment.

"This is likely to be the final support scheme of its kind, so I urge businesses that are eligible to get in touch and apply today."

The eligible categories are:

  • Personal services (hair, beauty, grooming, body care and aesthetics as well as wellbeing services) that were allowed to open on April 12 this year but were still subject to social distancing regulations which impacted capacity until July 19.
  • Businesses that can demonstrate they have had to close since April 12, 2021 because of staff required to isolate.
  • Suppliers to the travel and/or hospitality industries that can demonstrate a significant reduction in turnover during Covid-19 and have not received grant support.
  • Businesses that have not been eligible for any other grant schemes and have suffered a significant reduction in turnover.

The deadline for applications is Monday December 13 at 5pm. More information can be found on the council’s website at www.eastherts.gov.uk/form/additional-restrictions-grant-4a.
