Two men attempt theft of car from Stortford Fields
Police have reiterated their warning to car owners to keep keys in a signal-blocking pouch following the latest attempted theft of a vehicle in Bishop’s Stortford.
Two men were seen approaching a house in Claridge Drive on the Stortford Fields at around 2.10am on Friday (Oct 25). The owner said video footage from neighbours showed a white van in the area shortly before.
A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire police said: “The victim reported that a male approached his house with a backpack while a second male got into his vehicle. The pair then left on foot. The victim believes they were attempting to start and steal the vehicle remotely.
“We’d urge owners of keyless vehicles to please ensure that any key fobs and spares are kept in a signal-blocking pouch.”
Both number plates were stolen off a Skoda in nearby Dane Park, off Hadham Road, between 1am and 9am on Saturday (Oct 26).
