A thief stole £1,300 from a 57-year-old woman after targeting her outside the Bishop’s Park branch of Tesco.
A foreign man approached the victim in the supermarket’s car park last Thursday afternoon (Dec 3) and asked if he needed to pay for parking.
While she was distracted, two of her bank cards were stolen.
When she discovered the theft, she called to cancel her cards and learned that the thief initially made a balance enquiry on her Barclaycard using the cashpoint at Tesco before travelling to the Thorley Neighbourhood Centre.
The thief then spent £800 on the Barclaycard at the Thorley Park branch of Sainsbury’s and used her Halifax card to withdraw £500 from the supermarket’s cashpoint.
