Bellway to deliver 95 'affordable' homes as part of first phase of 219 properties at St James' Park
Bellway has started construction of 219 homes at the new St James' Park estate in Bishop's Stortford.
The developer is building on a 12.7-acre (5.14ha) site bordered by Whittington Way, St James Way, Obrey Way and London Road/Thorley Street to deliver 124 homes for private sale and 95 "affordable" properties for rent or shared ownership.
Greg Allsop, sales and marketing director of Bellway North London, said: "Our plan is to be able to welcome the first residents into their new homes at Bellway at St James' Park in early 2023. More than 1,000 people have already registered their interest in the development."
Bellway North London has secured a second parcel of land for a further 155 homes at St James' Park. A separate planning application is currently with East Herts Council for consideration. If plans for this second development are approved, Bellway will be delivering virtually half – 374 – of the 750 homes planned at St James' Park.
The 130-acre (52.6ha) scheme also includes shops, a primary school, care home and employment space, as well as a new campus for The Bishop's Stortford High School.
Bellway North London is also building 323 new apartments in two phases at the former railway goods yard in Bishop's Stortford.
