Developer supports Bishop's Stortford Food Bank
The builder behind new homes at Bishop's Stortford's Goodsyard and St James' Park developments has supported the town's food bank.
The £600 donation from Bellway North London provided festive treats and supermarket vouchers for families and individuals supported by the South Street charity.
The food bank based at the Methodist Church helped for 2,400 people in the town and the surrounding villages last year, with 1,263 food parcels for those in need.
School and community liaison trustee for the good cause, Jane Towns, said: "This is a really busy time of the year for Bishop's Stortford Food Bank as we have to cope with increased demand during the winter months both for food and to help those out with their rising electricity bills.
"We simply couldn't provide any of this support without the support of our local community, individuals, schools, and churches, and of course businesses such as Bellway.
"We have received a significant amount of help this year, and we have been blown away by everyone's generosity. We would like to say a huge thanks to Bellway for helping out at a crucial time of the year for those in need in Bishop's Stortford."
Matthew Saw, sales manager for Bellway North London, said: "Bishop's Stortford Food Bank and its volunteers play an invaluable role in helping local people in the area.
"Our support for the charity is part of our commitment as a company to make sure that we help the local community in the town as we build new neighbourhoods at St James' Park and Goodsyard."
