Church service in Bishop's Stortford gives bereaved chance to light a candle and leave a message for loved ones
More than 100 people mourning a lost loved one attended a special service at a church in Bishop's Stortford on Sunday (December 12).
The annual Carols & Candlelight Service at St Michael’s in Windhill was organised by Daniel Robinson & Sons, the funeral directors based in South Street.
Led by vicar the Rev Derwyn Williams and retired priest the Rev June Knight, the service featured carols, readings, prayers and a performance by solo soprano Nancy May.
Members of the congregation had the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one and leave a personal message on the Christmas tree.
A spokesperson for Daniel Robinson said: "This annual event, like so many events, unfortunately could not be held last year due to the pandemic.
"We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to hold the service again, giving so many people the opportunity to reflect and remember their loved ones at this special time of the year."
