Bishop’s Stortford’s Premier Travel collected 1,173 toys for children in care at Christmas.

Supporters dropped off donations at the South Street branch over a period of six weeks, and the collection grew so big that the gifts took up much of the shop.

The Rotary Club of Bishop’s Stortford also donated £100 so staff could buy gifts for the appeal.

Branch manager Judith Bates said: “This year’s appeal has been our best yet and we're truly overwhelmed by the generosity of the Stortford community.

"We have loved seeing children getting involved by bringing in their own gifts and having an input in what their parents have donated.

"We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped make our appeal such a success.”

A representative of social services delivered the presents to children for Christmas.
