A man has been charged following the discovery of a cannabis factory at a house in Birchanger on Friday (May 17).

Officers from Essex Police searched a property in Harrisons, off Birchanger Lane, in the heart of the village at around 10.20am and took away more than 100 cannabis plants.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and taken into custody for questioning.

On Saturday (May 18), Essex Police announced that Adriatik Shima, 44, of no fixed address, had been charged with cannabis production, abstracting electricity without authority and acquiring, using or being in possession of criminal property.

He was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
