Oxbridge places beckon for two talented and hard-working students at Birchwood High School in Bishop's Stortford.

Lukas Ruediger is set to read history and English at Oxford while Rafal Kliber is hoping for a degree in natural science at Cambridge.

They were among eight Birchwood candidates who applied for Oxbridge places.

Ian Torrance, head of sixth form at the Parsonage Lane secondary, said: "Both are incredibly talented young men who are very excited about the prospect of going on to study at both prestigious universities.

"They have worked extremely hard to get to this stage and are fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead of them to ensure that they can go on to secure their dreams and aspirations.

"We wish them all the very best as they complete their A-level studies at Birchwood High School."
