Bishop's Stortford College students shine at Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Bishop's Stortford College is setting the gold standard for the Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) Award scheme.
According to newly-published statistics, of the 98 DoE centres in Hertfordshire the Maze Green Road institution has the highest number of enrolments of any independent school, the highest number of awards gained in the sector and the highest completion rate - 88% - in the Broxbourne, East Herts and Welwyn/Hatfield quadrant.
The data comes hot on the heels of an invitation to 23 pupils to receive their Gold Award at Buckingham Palace on May 17.
Gill Lynch, DoE co-ordinator at the college, said: “I’m delighted with our highest ever completion rate of 88%. Undertaking the DoE Award is a challenge requiring commitment and determination, but it is one that has been embraced wholeheartedly by college pupils. I’m incredibly proud of their success, both personally, and across the county.”
