Bishop’s Stortford High School’s careers forum is a class act

More than 60 educators and employers took part in The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s 10th biennial careers forum.

Students from Years 10 to 13 got advice from exhibitors about university entrance requirements, apprenticeships, work experience and job opportunities.

The London Road secondary’s careers lead and forum organiser, Claire Jonas, said that it was fantastic to see new and prestigious employers such as Linklaters Law, housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, defence electronics firm Raytheon UK and missile systems manufacturer MBDA taking part.

“Along with favourites like the Armed Forces and the police, we had other high-profile national recruiters, for example Deloitte UK, GSK, Ford, the civil service, the NHS, BBC and McLarens Broking,” said Claire.

“With local companies such as ITVET, Tees Law, Price Bailey, Titan Aviation and Connect Scaffolding, the students had a really wide range of stands to visit – there really was something for everyone.

“The feedback from employers, parents and students has been terrific. We look forward to the next one – in the new school!”
