St Michael’s Church of England Primary School pupils take talents on tour for charity
Young entertainers from Bishop’s Stortford’s St Michael’s Church of England Primary School took their talents on tour to raise money for charity.
Year 4 pupils were “armed with enthusiasm and smiles” as they presented singing, performance poetry, trumpet playing and joke-telling at concerts in the town.
They performed in Jackson Square to raise money for Holy Trinity Night Shelter and Community Outreach, sheltered housing complex Nicholls Lodge and the New Apton Centre.
A second gig in the shopping precinct generated cash for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
In all, the class raised over £500 for charitable causes.
Student Daniel explained: “We wanted to spread joy and help others at the same time. It felt so good to see people smiling when we sang to them, and knowing we raised money makes it even better.”
Teacher Jonny Hays said the tour emphasised the importance of giving back and taught pupils the value of community.
