Bishop’s Stortford mayor celebrates New Year with town’s Tibetan community

The mayor of Bishop’s Stortford joined the town’s Tibetan community to celebrate Losar – the Tibetan New Year.

The Tibetan calendar began on Saturday (February 10), marking the start of the year of the male wood dragon.

The community celebrated on Sunday (February 11), with Cllr Richard Townsend and former mayor Norma Symonds, a long-time supporter, at an event at a Tibetan family’s home which was also attended by neighbours and friends.
