The A120 Bishop's Stortford bypass will be closed this weekend (Nov 28-29) – for repairs to be carried out to repairs!

Contractors will be carrying out remedial works and resurfacing 5,100 sq m of carriageway between the B1383 Stansted Road and A1250 Hadham Road/Tesco roundabouts from 7am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Herts County Council's highways department is warning work may have to continue on Monday November 30 from 10pm to 5am if the project is delayed by bad weather.

Councillors have been told: "This road received a surface dressing treatment in 2018 which failed in 2019. Remedials were undertaken by our framework contractor in 2020 but these have not fully addressed the problems.

"In light of this, we have agreed with them that the failing section will receive a full plane and inlay at their cost. Whilst we have the road closed we are also taking the opportunity to resurface some adjacent sections which the county will pay for.

"Whilst we appreciate there has been a lot of works in the area in recent months which has caused disruption to motorists, these works are essential in maintaining the highway to a safe standard.

"Due to winter fast approaching, we are getting these works done before we could have potential bad weather which would delay these works even further."
