St Clare Hospice has received a £5,000 boost from Daniel Robinson & Sons.

The Bishop's Stortford funeral director, in South Street, made a donation in memory of Madeleine Heal, who spent her final days at the hospice in Hastingwood, near Harlow.

Madeleine's partner, Nigel Appleby, is Daniel Robinson's head of finance and operations. He said: "The care and support that the hospice team gave was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and they made her family and friends very welcome."

Madeleine, who lived in Saffron Walden, is remembered as being an outgoing and vivacious woman. In 2016, she completed a sponsored walk in Vietnam as part of a team who raised £100,000 for charity.

In 2018 she suffered a fall and was diagnosed in 2019 as having a brain tumour. She died on March 6 this year.
