Hertford and Stortford MP Julie Marson organises online event for jobseekers

Bishop's Stortford's MP is to host an online jobs and apprenticeships fair.

Conservative Julie Marson has organised the event for her Hertford and Stortford constituents as the number of people claiming out-of-work benefits in East Herts has rocketed by 258% during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mrs Marson, elected in December last year, said: "I'm looking to bring our great, local businesses together with jobseekers, young people and those who want a career change.

"I'm keen to emphasise that the fair is not just for businesses to advertise job vacancies. If they can offer apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities or general career advice, I'd love to hear from them.

"The pandemic has had a devastating impact on businesses and on workers' livelihoods. I can think of no better way to do this than by hosting an online jobs and apprenticeships fair.

"I shall announce more details on the event on my Facebook page, so I would encourage all residents to follow updates from there."

The fair will take place on Friday September 18, from 10am to 1pm. Businesses which want to take part should email julie.marson.mp@parliament.uk.
