Bishop’s Stortford College A-level results: Day of celebration for students, families and staff




It’s been a day of celebration for students, their families and staff as Bishop’s Stortford College’s class of 2024 received outstanding A-level results on Thursday (August 15).

Eighteen per cent of all grades awarded were the top A* and 94% of students achieved A*-C. The point score per student has risen from 128.5 in 2023 to 131 this year.

While 24 of the cohort achieved straight A*-A grades, there were also many moments of pride and personal success stories.

A spokeswoman for the Maze Green Road independent day and boarding school said: “There are many success stories being celebrated at the College, and it is especially pleasing to see the accomplishments of the students that have led different areas of College life.”

Harry B, the boys’ first XI hockey captain, achieved four A*s while Millie A, the girls’ first XI hockey captain, got three A*s. They are off to Cambridge and St Andrews universities respectively.

First VII netball captain Chloe C, who joined the school for sixth form, is celebrating two As and a B, and an Army scholarship at the University of St Andrews in Scotland to study neuroscience.

Charity prefect and head of house Jake A achieved four A*s, paving the way to study medicine at Cambridge.

Head prefect Edward C is also Cambridge-bound, to read English, having secured three A*s. He contributed significantly to College life, particularly in music and drama, leading his house to victory in the house music competition.

Talented musician and music prefect Peggy S achieved two A*s and an A – and will be going to London School of Economics to study finance.

The College aspires for its students to progress to the best universities in the world and is delighted that Dan E has secured a music scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Also embarking on study in the USA is Dasha K, who joined the College as an HMC Ukraine Scholar and is now looking forward to studying at the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship after achieving three A*s.

College head John Maguire said: “We know that together, qualifications and qualities are what an education for today and tomorrow must deliver, and we are delighted by our A-level results.

“We are renowned for our caring ethos that nurtures the interests and talents of each individual student, and today we celebrate every one of these success stories.
