Birchwood High School high-flier Greg Barton has been offered a place at the University of Cambridge.

The 18-year-old hopes to study law at Downing College when he leaves the Bishop’s Stortford secondary in the summer.

Greg, who lives in the town, is studying for A-levels in psychology, government and politics, and biology.

To win his offer, Greg completed a gruelling exam and interview process, from which less than 10% of applicants are accepted.

Dr Chris Ingate, head of the Parsonage Lane school, said: “I’m extremely proud of Greg and his achievement, which demonstrates to all students that with the right mindset and determination anything is achievable.”
