Clarklands: Car fire at Sawbridgeworth naturist spa and massage parlour that was scene of 'brothel' arrests
A car fire broke out outside a spa and massage parlour in Sawbridgeworth which three-and-a-half months ago was the target of a police raid.
Police are treating the blaze at Clarklands Naturist Spa in Parsonage Lane shortly before 3pm on Wednesday (March 30) as suspected arson and are appealing for witnesses and information.
According to a witness, a hooded man was seen running away.
The fire started in the car – thought to be an Audi S3 belonging to a woman working in the spa – and spread to a hedge. The witness said: "One building was smouldering and a container."
Three fire and rescue crews – from Bishop's Stortford, Hertford and Harlow – attended along with police officers.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called just before 3pm to reports of a vehicle on fire on Clarklands Industrial Estate, Parsonage Lane, Sawbridgeworth.
"Firefighters found a car alight, with the fire also affecting a nearby hedge," he said. "Crews extinguished the fire and left the scene shortly after 4.30pm."
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "No one was injured and the incident is now being investigated as suspected arson."
