Chainsaw-wielding police execute drug warrants in Bishop’s Stortford and Ware

East Herts neighbourhood policing teams (NPT) joined forces with Essex officers to execute a drug warrant in Bishop’s Stortford on Thursday (July 3).

They also raided a property in Ware. A video posted by Hertfordshire Constabulary shows a chainsaw being used to cut the length of a door at a new-build property before it was rammed open.

The Indie has asked both forces for details of the outcome of the raids.

Bishop’s Stortford NPT Sgt Andy Crow said: “Drug dealing has a big impact on local communities. It directly leads to increased crime, such as violent incidents, shoplifting, burglary and vehicle theft, as well as litter and anti-social behaviour issues. It can also lead to the exploitation of children and vulnerable adults by the criminals who run drug supply lines.

“We will continue to work with our policing colleagues and local partners to take action and safeguard members of the public.”

He urged residents to report crime and anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood. Every call is taken seriously, he said, and helps to build up the evidence needed to take action.
