Affinity Water’s seven-month mains replacement programme in Stansted moves onto Chapel Hill

The next phase of Affinity Water’s work to lay new mains moves onto Stansted’s Chapel Hill this week.

The top section of Chapel Hill from its junctions with Silver Street and Crafton Green is closed to traffic until Sunday (November 26).

Temporary traffic lights will then be in operation from the junction with Spencer Close from November 27 until December 10.

Residents received warning of the impending disruption and Affinity warned motorists to allow more time for their journey. Diversion routes are in place.

The seven-month water mains upgrade programme began in September and will run throughout the winter until April.

Key routes around the village are being affected as contractor J Browne Construction Ltd carries out the work seven days a week.

Affinity has promised a ‘non-idle’ policy to ensure machinery is not left running for long periods of time.
