Singers Esther Richards and Charlie Turner set to raise the roof for Bishop's Stortford Winter Night Shelter
A stint volunteering at the Bishop’s Stortford Winter Night Shelter has inspired a couple to organise a fundraising gig on Thursday (January 30).
Singer and pianist Charlie Turner and her boyfriend Ed Anthony will be joined by singer Esther Richards for the event in aid of the good cause in the Maltings bar at Rhodes Arts Complex from 8pm.
Ed said: “Charlie and I were lucky enough to work at the shelter last year and were blown away by the incredible work they do for our local homeless community.”
Music teacher Charlie, 26, is a former student at Herts and Essex High School and recently had a musical in a West End theatre called The Other Palace.
Esther,37, is a Birchanger mother of two who performs regularly and has hosted her own fundraising events with actress sister Sophie Austin, the former Hollyoaks star, and Sophie's partner Shayne Ward, the Coronation Street actor who rose to fame as winner of the second series of The X Factor in 2005.
Charlie and Esther have previously sung together for charity. They performed at the recent Isabel Hospice fashion show at Rhodes and organised an event for children’s hospice Little Havens.
Ed, who plays guitar, said that the trio would be singing acoustic covers ranging from the Sixties to the present day. "There will also be some of Charlie’s original material as well.”
Tickets cost £6.50 and are available from the Rhodes box office on 01279 710200 and online at https://rhodesartscomplex.ticketsolve.com/shows/873617182.
