A charity which cares for terminally ill people in Bishop's Stortford has won a top accolade.

Isabel Hospice clinched the Excellence in Customer Commitment category at the annual Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards.

The award comes hot on the heels of last year's wins for Community Champion and Most Inspiring Business 2018.

Sponsored by Austin's Family Funeral Directors, the application submitted by the Welwyn Garden City charity focussed on how the hospice ensures patients and families have a positive experience.

Chief executive Robin Webb said: "With end of life care, our teams only get one chance to get it right. The ripple effect of a good, or bad death, affects the patient's family or carers for the rest of their lives.

"Thank you to all our staff and volunteers who made this award possible for the unerring commitment they give to providing the best possible care for those living with life-limiting illnesses across eastern Hertfordshire."
