Farnham Christmas tree festival raises over £1,000 towards installing facilities in St Mary's Church
The Friends of Farnham Church are celebrating a Christmas fundraising triumph.
Their Christmas tree festival returned to St Mary's on Saturday December 18 after it was cancelled in 2020 because of coronavirus and generated £1,195.
Visitors admired 28 specially decorated firs and spruces, and enjoyed a range of refreshments, gift-buying opportunities, musical entertainment and a chance to visit Santa in his grotto.
One of the organisers, Maddy Willis, said: “We had to make some adjustments for the new Covid-19 recommendations, so Santa's grotto and a separate gazebo housing the Christmas fair items for sale were both outside, as was the hot food. This made it easier for visitors to practise social distancing.
“We had the best festival so far and raised £1,195 towards installing a toilet and kitchen servery in the church.”
