St Michael's Church sets Bishop's Stortford treasure hunt challenge for families
Supporters of St Michael's Church in Bishop's Stortford have come up with a sightseeing solution to summer holiday boredom.
The Bishop's Stortford Town Treasure Hunt 2020 is a fundraising initiative designed to boost good causes struggling with Covid-19 challenges.
It has been created by the St Michael's Church Charities Support Group, whose annual Holly Fair each December is usually its principal money-spinner.
The treasure hunt takes place from August 15 to 31. Set up as a walking trail around the town centre, it poses questions about a range of familiar sights.
The total distance is 1.5 miles and it should take around two to three hours to complete.
To take part, donate to the support group by texting 'STMIC' plus any amount between £5 and £20 to 70085. For example, text STMIC 10 if you want to give £10.
Spokesman Gavin Mintern said: "Once you've made your donation, the question sheets will be published on the St Michael's Church website – www.saintmichaelweb.org.uk – from August 15 and will be available to download until August 31, after which the answers will be published, so you can see how your knowledge stacks up.
"Details of how to submit your answers will be on the question sheets. Answer sheets will be assessed, and the highest-scoring answers will be entered into a draw and a winning entry will be selected at random to win a prize."
More details will be available on St Michael's website when the trail goes live on August 15.
