Church praise for standards at St Elizabeth School in Perry Green

St Elizabeth’s School has been rated ‘outstanding’ by The Catholic Schools Inspectorate.

The Perry Green charity provides education for children and young people aged five to 19 with moderate or severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) or other complex neurological conditions potentially caused or complicated by epilepsy.

As a faith school, the inspection is a compulsory assessment carried out by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate to ensure it operates in accordance with the teachings of the Church and the law of the land.

The inspectors, working on behalf of the Archbishop of Westminister, noted: “Staff are exemplary role models for pupils, giving outstanding support with behaviour, personal care and medical needs to ensure all pupils lead as full a life as possible reflecting Gospel values.”

They said: “Both the leadership team and governors embrace and actively promote the principle that Catholic schools are at the service of the local church and there is an active, flourishing partnership between the school and local parishes.”

Head Lisa Tooley was also given a personal letter of praise from Chief Inspector of Schools Nancy Conoboy, who said the report was “a testament to the dedication and commitment demonstrated by your pupils, staff, leadership team, and governors”.

She said: “Achieving the highest grade of 1 across all key judgments reflects an authentic fidelity to the call to live as a Catholic community at the service of the Church’s educational mission.”

Ms Tooley said: “This report truly reflects the values and ethos of our school. Every day is filled with joy and respect for one another.

“The report is an incredible read, and we were delighted that the inspectors from CSI were able to feel the love and support that is provided by every staff member to ensure everybody lives life to the full.”
